Offered here is a brand new 150uf 450volt capacitor. It measures 6" long by 1
3/8" in diameter. One of the primary uses for this style capacitor is in
electron tube apparatus. These are new production capacitors and have a much
higher temperature rating then the smaller capacitors of the same value. These
are designed to take the extra heat produced in RF Linear amplifiers and are
rated at 85 Celsius.
I have a limited supply and wanted to offer them up to those radio folks that
want to replace the old capacitors in their tube amplifier. Most RF tube Linear
amplifiers have between 2 to 8 high voltage capacitors in a series parallel
configuration most often. Meaning the actual capacitance is the total sum of
all capacitors in that series parallel circuit. If you have (4) 200uf
capacitors your total value in the circuit is 800uf. You could use 5 or 6 of
these capacitors to replace the 200uf capacitors that have an overall
capacitance total of 800uf satisfying the circuit requirement. If you used 5
you would have a minimum of 750uf and if you used 6 you would have 900uf in
that circuit. Capacitance in this circuit does not need to be spot on and has
at least a 20% tolerance factor. As capacitors age the value usually grows.
Meaning a 200uf capacitor after 15 or 20 years may read 300uf, hence the
tolerance in the circuit. If the tolerance is to much it will affect the
performance of the amplifier and you really should try to keep the total
capacitance in the range the circuit calls for.
These are becoming harder to obtain in the higher heat range without having to
spend an arm and a leg to get them. Please ask all questions before purchasing
them they are being offered as is no return as with any electronic component
they can be damaged if not correctly used. The top screws for the capacitor are
included. Thanks for looking.
